2006 Honda Civic Coupe Introduced at the Chicago Auto Show ...
The 2006 Honda Civic is redesigned, and Honda wants you to believe that it's still cool. To that end, the Civic shown initially at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show is a two-door Si coupe concept that represents 90 percent of the production car, which will be unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer Association show in Las Vegas next fall. SEMA is the epicenter of the tuning and parts companies that Honda sees as the driving force behind the street scene, but the reality is that the scene revolves around the cool cars, not the other way around. The current Civic faded from enthusiasts' minds because it lost its multiple-link front suspension and rear trailing arms, and so lacks the nimbleness that once made it such a good foundation for modifications.
The 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid: Breaking the Mold - GreenHybrid
For years, the Honda Civic Hybrid has been on the short end of the stick in terms of gasoline-electric automobile sales. With the popularity of the Toyota Prius II, Honda has taken a big hit in terms of hybrid market share; Honda's hybrid trio is currently only netting half the sales figures of Toyota's single claim to hybrid fame. However, the 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid might be the key to changing that trend for Honda in the coming years. The 2006 innovations continue with the new electric motor. The HCH's DC motor is mounted between the engine and the CVT, and commands an improved 20-hp and 66 pound-feet of torque. This 50% improvement in horsepower and 14% improvement in torque is an important step given the electric motor's greater role as a part of the 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid. Also exciting is the new, standard Continuously Variable Transmission found on the 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid. This CVT is the fourth generation that has been produced by Honda, and features a 9% increased range between minimum and maximum gear ratios. This allows for smoother acceleration, in which transitions are predictable, and lower engine RPMs at high speeds.

Separated at Birth: 2006 Honda Civic and 2006 Audi A4 - Autoblog ...
The Civic isn't in the same class as the A4 and especially the S4 in any sense of the word. Perhaps the shifty designers at Honda thought that if they implemented one of the Audi's design ques, the typical Honda Civic buyer would believe it was of equal standing.

A result of "Good" in all three categories is required to earn "Top Safety Pick - Gold" status. The 2006 Honda Civic is the only small car to have ever earned a "good" rating in the IIHS Side Impact and frontal offset test.
