The new Accord features freshened styling for both sedan and coupe models to emphasize its new sporty performance and appeal to buyers emotionally, Honda said. Styling for the Accord Sedan and Coupe is more distinctive to ultimately distinguish the two vehicles from each other. The 2003 Honda Accord sedan will be available with DX, LX-G, EX-L, LX V6 and EX V6 trim levels. The new Accord Coupe will be available in LX-G, EX-L and EX V6 trim levels. The 2003 Accord Sedan will go on sale in Canada early October, and the 2003 Accord Coupe is scheduled to go on sale at the beginning of November.
Inside Line: Honda Accord -
In 1981 a full-blown luxury trim level, called the SE, was offered. Sending out the first- generation Accord in style, the SE stocked an Accord Sedan with leather seating, power windows and door locks, alloy wheels and a sound system with cassette deck. As far as pricing went, a 1976 Accord was $3,995. By 1980 the base hatchback's price had gone up 50 percent, to $5,949, and the LX version was $1,000 more. The 1980 Accord Sedan was $6,515. Unfortunately for consumers, demand for the early Accords was greater than supply, so dealers would typically add a second window sticker next to Honda's. Appearing on this second sticker would be vastly overpriced dealer-added options such as pinstripes, mud flaps and rustproofing.
Vehicle Reviews: Honda Accord Sedan EX V-6
The Accord was one of the best, until the arrival of the 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. Competition is learning to compete with Accord, by making better cars than the industry leader, like Toyota Camry, Mitsubishi Galant, and even Korean car manufacturers. The Accord is a norm setter for the auto industry all around the world. The 2001 Honda Accord is available in ten trims: DX, LX, Special Edition, EX, LX V-6, and EX V-6 4-door sedans; plus LX, EX, LX V-6 and EX V-6 2-door coupes. Safety features include dual airbags, front-seat side airbags (V-6 models and EX 4-cylinder with leather) and child safety locks (sedans only). An anti-lock brake system (ABS) is standard on the EX, LX V-6, and EX V-6 trims, optional on the LX Sedan.
