The 2000 Honda Civic Si was created for the 99 model year. It is basically a Civic EX coupe with the recently departed Del Sol VTECs 160 HP engine. This engine breathes new life into the Civic lineup, sort of supplanting the 88-91 CRX of old. Other than the alloy wheel design, the name Si, and the word VTEC on the sides, you almost cant distinguish the Si from the EX coupe. The Si is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission, which honestly does make the most out of the engine offered. Dimensions and weight are identical to the Civic EX coupe 5-speeds.
2000 Honda Civic Si - The Car Connection
First on the list of equipment is a 160-horsepower DOHC VTEC engine. Its output bests the previous king of the hill Civic EX coupe by 33 horsepower. The engine is similar to the unit that was installed in the now defunct Civic del Sol. Not surprisingly, like other high-performance Honda engines, this one's a revver.
