Nearly four decades after its introduction, the Honda Civic can rightfully be called an automotive icon. It remains one of America's best-selling small cars for good reason. Honda Civic comes as a four-door sedan, two-door coupe or the three-door Si hatchback. The sedans and coupes offer several engines choices and trim levels. All come standard with a five-speed manual transmission. Most models are available with either a four-speed automatic transmission ($800) or CVT continuously variable automatic ($1000).
2006 Honda Civic Coupe Introduced at the Chicago Auto Show ...
The 2006 Honda Civic is redesigned, and Honda wants you to believe that it's still cool. To that end, the Civic shown initially at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show is a two-door Si coupe concept that represents 90 percent of the production car, which will be unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer Association show in Las Vegas next fall. SEMA is the epicenter of the tuning and parts companies that Honda sees as the driving force behind the street scene, but the reality is that the scene revolves around the cool cars, not the other way around. The current Civic faded from enthusiasts' minds because it lost its multiple-link front suspension and rear trailing arms, and so lacks the nimbleness that once made it such a good foundation for modifications.
2005 Honda Civic - Overview
The 2005 Honda Civic Coupe is mostly a carryover from 2004. For 2005, the Honda Civic Coupe has four trimlines: HX, Value, LX, and EX. A new Special Edition EX model adds an upgraded audio head unit, leather wrapped steering wheel, rear spoiler, unique alloy wheels, and Special edition badging. A Special Edition LX model has been made available as well. The HX is equipped with a VTEC-E lean burn 117-hp engine, and it achieves an efficient 36 mpg city and 44 mpg highway when equipped with the manual transmission. The audio system on the SE features a six-disc in-dash CD changer that is capable of playing MP3 music and an auxiliary jack for use with portable music devices and satellite radio receivers.
