The interior of the Honda Civic Si is a mixed bag. The Civic Si, as been the case for years now, still boasts some of the best feeling materials in its class. Compared to cars like the Dodge Neon SRT-4 and Ford Focus ST, the Si feels extremely solid as well crafted. Ergonomics are also excellent; everything is in reach of the driver and the gadgetry is all logically placed. The driving position is excellent, allowing for easy access to the HVAC controls, shifter, audio controls, etc. Some negatives with the Si include the overdose of titanium accents. Like most cars in this class, the Si is more of a drivers car than a car pool vehicle, however head and leg room are still both adequate in both the front and the rear of the Si. Thanks to the hatchback design versus the popular slanting coupe design, the Honda Civic Si offers plenty of headroom for rear occupants.

The evolution of the Honda Civic closely parallels that of Honda itself as a car manufacturer. The first Civic, introduced in 1972, was a small, inexpensive hatchback that came along just in time for America's first fuel crisis. This entry-level car was quickly recognized as the benchmark in its class by journalists, the auto industry and, most of all, the buying public. Each subsequent generation of Civic raised the bar for compact cars, leading the way in performance, refinement and fuel economy. Base Civic engines were the first to meet California's Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) standards, and Honda offers one of the industry's only Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) in its Civic HX coupe. The sixth-generation Civic, introduced in 1996, offered greatly increased interior space compared to the previous model, even though its exterior dimensions grew only slightly.
