DC Sports Civic Si is built to compete in a series of road racing track events including the up and coming Time Attack events. As with every vehicle AEM has built in the past it is used as a test bed for AEM and DC Sports products. AEM claims this Civic Si features a 400 horsepower engine thanks to a custom turbo installation using a DC Sports exhaust system, Garrett GT28RS turbocharger, Wiseco pistons and RC Engineering injectors. An Advanced Clutch Technologies flywheel and clutch transfer power to the ground. For the Temple of VTEC's inaugural SEMA entry, the goal was to build the 2006 Civic Si into a very competitive track car without sacrificing streetability. More power, more grip, and less weight were the keys to meeting those objectives. Engine modifications include a reprogrammed Hondata ECU, Intrinsic Performance Solutions cams, an AEM intake and Hytech exhaust system. GReddy Performance Products is a leader in high-performance turbocharging, and this 2006 Civic Si is no exception. Featuring a prototype T517Z bolt-on turbo kit, it uses a stainless steel exhaust manifold and GReddy's e-Manage engine management system. A prototype Type 31V front mounted intercooler kit keeps the charge temperatures down, and an EVO2 cat-back exhaust system reduces backpressure. The system also includes GReddy's Profec B-Spec 2 boost controller, Type RS blow-off valve, iridium Tune spark plugs and a full auto turbo timer.

The Civic has been on Car and Driver magazine's annual Ten Best list six times, in 1985, 1988 through 1991, and 1996. The Civic GX, a natural gas version of the vehicle was named Greenest Car of 2005 by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy. Honda claimed 5 of the top 10 Greenest car slots, 3 of which were models of the Civic. The Civic Si was named "Best New Sport Car" and the sedan was named "Best New Economy Car" in the 2006 Canadian Car of the Year awards.
