For the Temple of VTEC's inaugural SEMA entry, the goal was to build the 2006 Civic Si into a very competitive track car without sacrificing streetability. More power, more grip, and less weight were the keys to meeting those objectives. Engine modifications include a reprogrammed Hondata ECU, Intrinsic Performance Solutions cams, an AEM intake and Hytech exhaust system. GReddy Performance Products is a leader in high-performance turbocharging, and this 2006 Civic Si is no exception. Featuring a prototype T517Z bolt-on turbo kit, it uses a stainless steel exhaust manifold and GReddy's e-Manage engine management system. A prototype Type 31V front mounted intercooler kit keeps the charge temperatures down, and an EVO2 cat-back exhaust system reduces backpressure. The system also includes GReddy's Profec B-Spec 2 boost controller, Type RS blow-off valve, iridium Tune spark plugs and a full auto turbo timer.

Honda has put a new K20 series engine in the new 2006 Civic Si. The new K20 series is called K20Z3 and has a number of improvements over the previous K20Z1 found in the 2006 Acura RSX Type S. The engine now features a bigger balancer shaft to smoothen out the revs and get rid of any vibrations.
