Mattel is probably responsible for more enthusiasts being bitten by the car bug than anybody else, thanks to its Hot Wheels line of micro-sized cars. This full-sized Hot Wheels Civic Si is designed to make you want to play just as much, just not on mom's living room rug. The engine is customized with a prototype Turbonetics turbo system, with a Spearco intercooler. It also boasts a Nitrous Express fogger system. Mackin Industries is the official importer of many top-line products from around the world. This 2006 Civic Si showcases Mackin's cutting edge line of performance accessories for the new sport coupe, including ARC's Super Induction box radiator, plug cover and oil catch tank. A J's Racing special valve cover and oil cap dress up the engine compartment, and an Espelir exhaust system adds a sporty touch to the rear. A J's Racing coilover system lowers the car onto its RAYS Volk Racing TE37 wheels and Yokohama Parada tires. Seibon's carbon fiber hood and trunk are complemented by a J's Racing body styling kit and wing. If you have a Honda, and want to make it faster, Skunk2 should be on your shopping list. This Civic Si eschews extroverted styling in favor of a stealthy approach. Under the hood, it packs a serious punch with Skunk2 pistons and connecting rods. The head is CNC ported and includes Skunk2 Racing camshafts, cam gears, forged valves and titanium valve retainers. RC Engineering injectors and Hondata's ECU combine Skunk2's prototype exhaust and intake systems to round out the engine mods. The car's Stealth Black body hunkers down on its Volk Racing wheels thanks to Skunk2 Racing springs and Moton shocks.

L engine pumping 197 hp to the wheels, and a six-speed transmission and helical-type LSD helping, its easy to see why it sure looks that way on paper. And certainly, the naked eye will also tell you that the sleek profile and aggressive face of the new Civic Si that is no wall-flower compact. The new Civic Si represents a dramatic change from the UK-built, and relatively unloved fifth-gen Civic Si. The new Si is wider, shorter, and longer than the previous generation all reasons that make it sportier even standing still. Even in a brief ride in the SEMA Show proving grounds, the new Si showed that the driving dynamics of this Si were a priority for Hondas engineers. The new Si steers, corners, and stops better than any other recent Civic that weve driven that even includes a few aftermarket enhanced versions. Throw in special red-stitched seating, an 8,000 rpm redline, and even the love-it-or-hate-it dual level instrumentation, and you have a compelling argument for spending $20,000 of your hard earned dollars. While the Civic Si has always been the rebellious hot rod of the Civic family, the new Si should raise the bar on what a Si-badged Civic should be. And it cant have come at a better time the Scion tC, Cobalt SS and a slew of reborn RWD sport cars are all fighting for the title of favorite tuner car these days. While some of the Si projects on the floor were flashier or more powerful, the Sport Prototype Civic Si was still the flagship Civic Si, especially since the design came from Honda themselves. The body is restyled with front and rear bumpers with carbon fiber aerodynamic enhancements. The fenders are widened, with enhanced door styling, carbon fiber side skirts and a carbon fiber rear diffuser with center-mounted prototype exhaust. The rear wing is made of carbon fiber and is adjustable for downforce, and the entire car has been painted in Anniversary White Pearl, in honor of the Civic Sis 20^th anniversary in 2006. The Sport Prototype Civic Si is lowered 25 mm with a prototype Honda advanced track tuned suspension.

The all-new 2006 Honda Civic Si will make its worldwide public debut at the SEMA Show in November. The Vehicle of the Show for 2005 is one of four completely redesigned 2006 Civic models being introduced this year by Honda, the 2005 Vehicle Manufacturer of the Show. The Civic Si is available exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. Designed to be exceptionally compact and lightweight, this six-speed has also been engineered to shift with extremely short throws. The helical-type limited-slip differential (LSD) in the Civic Si improves acceleration and cornering performance by ensuring that both front wheels receive optimum levels of torque at all times. In a straight line, both wheels are utilized to put the engine's power to the ground with minimal wheel spin. During hard cornering, the LSD transmits more torque toward the outside wheel to bias power to the tire with the most grip and facilitates the outside wheel's longer travel distance relative to the inner wheel.
