Honda Civic Si goes for under $20K - Autoblog - www.autoblog.com _
The guys over at Temple of VTEC have discovered Honda's pricing structure for the Civic Si, and much to the happiness of Si fans in the States the car will start at $19,990 for the base 6-speed manual model. The pricing has already been posted on Honda's website, where you can build your own Si. Adding summer tires to your pocket rocket will push the price up to $20,190. If you want a nice little nav system you'll be shelling out $21,740. If you want both the summer rubber and the navi then you'll top out at $21,940. ON THE OTHER HAND, take a good look at the curve Honda provided. The numbers on each side of the graph do not line up, therefore the actual graph will not cross at 5252 RPM. If you were to take the torque line and raise it so that the numbers on either side were even, the lines WOULD cross at 5252.
European New Car Assessment Programme: Safety Rating Details
Child Protection A small pictogram on the centre pillar was the only warning against placing a child in a rearward- facing restraint on the front passenger seat, opposite an airbag. Euro NCAP urges Honda to provide better warnings. The restraints used were Honda-branded Roemer Duo that had top tethers. Their attachments must be extended before they engage the ISOFIX anchorage pins within the car seat, but there was too little information on the seat labels for whoever fits them to understand this. The top tether fixing was not explained. Pedestrian Protection Honda set out to do well in these tests and this has been achieved. The Civics bumper gave a high degree of protection without compromising its performance. The front edge of the bonnet also showed its sound design. The bonnet hinges, latch design and wing mountings also incorporated measures to minimise impact forces.
Parker's - Honda Civic Type-R (01 on) review
The Civic Type-R is one of the best hot hatches around, with an awesome engine and gearbox combination that gets better the harder and faster you drive it. It also offers a genuinely roomy body shape. This Honda offers something rare: a very reliable and exciting ownership prospect. That boxy shape affords a decent amount of rear seat space, and the front seat backs have been shaped to allow maximum knee space for rear occupants. The flat floor helps, too, freeing up space that would otherwise have been taken up by the transmission tunnel. Neat detailing is attractive and understated, such as the metal name plate on the centre console and red Honda badges.
Inside Line: Honda Civic -
Prior to 1973, Honda was a company known more for its motorcycles than for its cars, which were tiny two-cylinder 600cc runabouts. This changed when the Civic debuted for 1973. The Civic offered amazing space efficiency in a fun little car that achieved more than 40 mpg on the highway. The CVCC (or Controlled Vortex Combustion Chamber) engine debuted in 1975. Offered alongside the standard Civic engine, the 53-horsepower CVCC engine displaced 1,488 cc and had a head design that promoted cleaner, more efficient combustion. The CVCC design eliminated a need for a catalytic converter or unleaded fuel to meet emissions standards. A neatly chiseled exterior devoid of gimmickry, an intelligent interior design with supportive seats, large gauges and high-quality fit and finish made the 1984 Civic line attractive and an immediate success.
CanadianDriver: Used Car Review - Honda Civic, 2001 - 2003
The best-selling car in Canada since 1998 has been the Honda Civic. What a run of success! Last year Honda Canada sold 63,898 Civics in this country. Sales of the number two Toyota Corolla were 24 per cent lower (at 48,676). Now while the Civic did get a bigger cabin and giant trunk for 2001, and while fuel economy remains fantastic and emissions extremely low, this latest version is showing some signs of vulnerability.
Road Tests: Honda Civic 3-Door and Type R
But the 5-door Civic is a wholly practical, sensible car, ideal for families and in particular for mums with young children. Its transmission-tunnel-free flat floor gives easy access to the back seats or the nearside kerb. Not so the range topper: the Honda Civic Type R. The obvious way to give the Civic range a sporty, trendy appeal was to come up with a hot version. Where VW has its GTi, where Renault has its ClioSport, where SEAT has its Cupra, Honda has its Type R. First the Integra Type R. Then the Accord Type R. Now the 200bhp chain-cam six-speed Civic Type R.
2003 Honda Civic Hybrid - One-Year Test Verdict - Motor Trend
Purpose-built hybrid vehicles first went on sale in the United States in 1999, with the Honda Insight leading the post-electric vehicle charge. As with the Toyota Prius that followed, the Insight's distinct styling announced the driver's environmental concerns and tech geekdom far better than any pollutant-spewing VW Microbus held together with Save-the-Whales stickers ever could. The perennial best-selling compact car, the Honda Civic became the first mass-production vehicle to offer a hybrid system as a powertrain choice, joining a model line that already boasted ultra-low-emissions and fuel-efficient engines. This special Civic model features a newer, more compact, and more powerful version of the Integrated Motor Assist system pioneered on the Insight to create a near-transparent alternative to the traditional engines found in more than 16 million new vehicles each year. The car's unique feature content drew praise, having borrowed trim and content upgrades from other Civic models. Subtle exterior distinctions, such as a unique front fascia, trunk spoiler, aluminum wheels, and badging, may be missed by all but Green Car Journal subscribers. Some editors saw the stealth appearance as a sign of hybrid acceptance, slipping the car into the mainstream without causing a ripple. Others felt that the owners may want to make a bolder styling statement to declare their social responsibility.
